Green Roads Featured in the Sun Sentinelabsolutelyrelieved
So far, 2019 has been an excellent year for Green Roads, and there is no better evidence of this than the company’s growing presence in the news in the last few months. Most recently, Green Roads was featured in The Sun Sentinel, one of the country’s most trusted newspapers and media channels.
The article takes an in-depth look at CBD and the role of Green Roads in growing the industry nationwide. The newspaper also highlights the collaboration between Green Roads and the University of Florida and what it means for the future of hemp in the Sunshine State.
UF IFAS: Growing the Industry in Florida
Earlier this year, Green Roads announced the delivery of the first legally certified hemp plants into the state of Florida in over 70 years. The article highlights what this could mean for Florida farmers and the state’s overall economy.
“We’re looking to help commercialize the industry here, so that’s going to open up an avenue for farmers,” said Green Roads co-founder Arby Barroso in the article. “It’s going to add economic growth. It’s going to add jobs.”
This initial delivery of 50 industrial hemp plants marked a historic moment for the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agriculture Sciences (UF/IFAS) hemp pilot research program. The program was launched in 2018 via a collaboration with Green Roads who donated $1.3 million to the program.
The UF pilot program was developed to research what hemp varieties and cultivation methods are more suitable for Florida’s different environments. The program also seeks to create a framework for the best management practices and cropping systems economically viable in the state. Currently, the UF hemp pilot program works with three state-of-the-art research facilities in Homestead, Hague, and Quincy.
“Through our collaboration with Green Roads and the state of Florida, we look forward to generating the science to make hemp a dynamic industry in Florida,” said Dr. Roger Kjelgren in a press release. Kjelgren is the director of UF/IFAS Research and Education Center (MREC). “Now that Green Roads has provided IFAS with the initial pilot plants, the real work starts as we propagate plants in preparation for late spring field plantings. We must research how much light, water, and nutrients are needed to efficiently produce hemp for wise resource use and optimum yield.”
CBD Legalization in Florida
The article in the Sun Sentinel also elaborates on the complications the CBD industry has faced in recent years, particularly when it comes to its legal status. Even though the 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp nationwide, the sale and distribution of hemp-derived products remain in a legal grey area in Florida and other states.
Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried is one of the state’s most prominent proponents of hemp legalization. In the past, Fried lobbied for Amendment 2, the 2016 law that legalized medical marijuana in Florida. According to the article, she is now working to legalize industrial hemp to help farmers tap into the sizable market and help ensure consumer safety. The article also points out how Senate bills 7102 and 1020 would set up hemp cultivation regulations in addition to allowing the plant’s sale and distribution in the state. Both Senate bills have passed initial hurdles, and there is similar legislation in the House.
“Once that legislation becomes law, CBD products can be tested, regulated and legally sold with the consumer safety protections Floridians expect,” said Franco Ripple in the article. Ripple is the spokesman for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Green Roads Trusted Statewide
Green Roads generates about $40 million a year in sales from CBD making it one of the most important CBD brands in the country. Green Roads CBD products are trusted by the general public and professionals across the country, and author Marcia Heroux Pounds shows this via a series of testimonials from real users.
The following testimonials were compiled by Heroux Pounds for the article.
Vitamin Y Boutique in Boca Raton has been selling Green Roads products since July 2017, and owner Paul Chovan wouldn’t have it any other way. “Green Roads is not the cheapest, but they’re the best,” he said, based on personal experience and customer feedback
Chovan said Green Roads products sell out almost immediately. “We just ordered $4,000 worth. We’ll have to place another order within 30 days.”
David Andrews offers Green Roads CBD products at his David’s Pharmacy in Pompano Beach. He said he buys $3,000 to $5,000 of Green Roads merchandise for his store because people just keep coming back for more.
“We’ve gotten a lot of repeat customers because of it,” Andrews said. “We have people coming in saying, ‘I can’t believe how well it worked.’” Andrews also says that if customers are looking for something to ease their everyday stressors, he always points them to Green Roads.
Not only are dispensaries or smoke shops experiencing great results with Green Roads but also local physicians’ offices. Dr. Spencer Kellogg, a longtime gynecologist in Miami, sells Green Roads CBD in his office for patients who are also curious about CBD.
Kellogg said he trusts Green Roads because he has personally witnessed how Green Roads products are made. “It’s a sterile room. Their quality control is very impressive. Lastly, the potency is remarkable,” he said.
Robert Klein, a chiropractor in Boca Raton, said he likes that certified independent labs test green Roads CBD products. “I know I can stand behind this product and recommend it,” said Klein, who sells Green Roads products in his office.
